Founding of Boyum IT
Boyum IT was founded in 1997 by Mikael Boyum, originally under the name MBJ Electronics. The office looked very different back then compared to our headquarters today. The setup was smaller, the technology was different, and the company was just beginning its journey. But even in the early days, the spirit behind Boyum IT was clear: practical problem-solving, close customer relationships, and the drive to create something that could grow.
This is where the journey began: first, in a basement, then in a three-computer, four-desk office.
This is where that same journey has taken us.
B1 Usability Package release
Back in 2005, Boyum IT released the first version of the B1 Usability Package. It was built on .NET Framework 1.0 and developed for SAP Business One 2004A. What started as a solution to make SAP Business One easier and more flexible for users became one of Boyum IT’s most important products and a key part of our journey in the SAP Business One ecosystem. A lot has changed since 2005: technology, user expectations, and the SAP Business One landscape. But the purpose behind the product is still recognizable today: helping users work smarter, with tools that fit their daily business needs.
Some ideas are built to last.
Culture
Before we called it Energy for LIFE, Boyum IT already had many of the same ingredients in place: collaboration, social connection, commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility. Our culture has developed over time, but it has always been shaped by the people who bring it to life every day.
Global growth
Boyum IT started in Denmark and has grown into an international company with colleagues across multiple countries and nationalities. That global growth is not only about offices and markets. It is also about learning from different perspectives, cultures, and ways of working.
Boyum IT completed its first M&A in 2010
Since then, we have welcomed 6 other companies into the Boyum family. Each step has added new people, products, knowledge, and perspectives to our journey. Growth at Boyum IT has never only been about becoming bigger. It has also been about bringing together expertise, strengthening our offering, and creating new opportunities across teams, partners and customers.
Growth is also about the people and companies that become part of the journey.
