Excellence: The value we live every day

23.01.2026

Energy for LIFE is the cultural foundation at Boyum IT. It reflects how we work, connect, and care, built on a supportive culture and a long-standing focus on work-life balance. Energy for LIFE is guided by four values: Family, Social, Fit, and Excellence. They are our shared language, our cultural compass and a guide for daily decisions. These values are symbolized in our Boyum IT coat of arms, displayed in every office across the globe as a daily reminder of what we stand for. You see them in how we support each other, how we invest in wellbeing (physically and mentally) and how we build relationships across teams and borders.

Excellence can be hard to describe. If we do not make it concrete, it can sound like a nice idea rather than a daily standard. Yet Excellence is the value that ensures our energy becomes something real: outcomes that customers, partners and colleagues can rely on. As we grow, we have a clear company objective: to protect and enrich our culture. Growth can create more complexity, more interfaces, and more handovers. Without clear standards, good intentions can turn into noise. Excellence is one of the ways we protect our culture. It turns values into daily behaviors, creates clarity when things get busy, and helps us keep delivering quality without losing what makes our workplace and teamwork special.

Excellence is not a slogan

For us, Excellence is not just part of our offices' poster. Excellence is what we do, every day. It shows up in the moments that matter:

  • how we handle critical milestones like go-lives
  • how quickly and clearly, we make decisions
  • how consistently we follow through
  • how we collaborate across functions
  • how our managers raise standards through daily behavior

What Excellence means for us at Boyum IT

To make Excellence concrete, our management team recently held a dedicated workshop and aligned on what Excellence means in practice for how we lead, decide, collaborate, and deliver. Our shared definition is simple: Excellence means delivering outcomes that customers, partners, and colleagues can rely on, through clear leadership, strong execution, and continuous improvement.

We start with a simple question: What are you trying to achieve?”

When we start with the intended outcome, we make better decisions about priorities, quality, and follow-through. Internally, Excellence also means working in a way that is consistent and scalable, so people can do great work without unnecessary friction. It shows up in clear ownershipgood decisions at the right level, and reliable follow-through, especially when priorities collide and the pace is high.

Excellence in leadership

Excellence becomes real when leadership makes it real in daily behavior. For us, leadership excellence is not defined by intention, but by what people experience consistently.

Managers at Boyum IT support Excellence when they...:

  • listen with full attention in meaningful conversations
  • set clear direction and expectations and repeat them
  • explain decisions and the “why”
  • empower teams with real decision space and clear frames
  • model the standards they expect (quality, ownership, follow-through)

What Excellence means if you are considering joining us

Excellence is also a promise to future colleagues. If you join us, you should expect an environment where...:

  • quality and outcomes matter: we care about doing things properly and finishing what we start
  • you are trusted with responsibility: we aim to empower people to make decisions
  • clarity is part of the culture: expectations, decisions, and priorities are made explicit
  • feedback is normal: development is continuous, and we address issues early and respectfully
  • collaboration is practical: we align, decide, and follow through, rather than meeting without outcomes

This is part of how we protect and enrich our Energy for LIFE culture as we scale. We want the culture to remain strong, supportive, and high-performing, not dependent on heroics or individual goodwill.

How Excellence strengthens our other values

Excellence does not compete with Family, Fit, and Social values. It reinforces them.

  • Family means we care enough to be clear, honest, and supportive.
  • Fit means we build sustainable high performance without relying on last-minute heroics.
  • Social means we collaborate with purpose and respect different perspectives.
  • Excellence means we convert our energy into outcomes people can rely on.

Excellence is already present in many moments across our organisation. Now we are making it more explicit, more consistent, and more widely shared. Because Excellence is not something we say once. It is something we practice every day.
